How to leave your Genealogy
Saturday, December 6
How to leave your Genealogy  (Speaker Series)
11:00 am
Online Zoom Meeting
The Solano County Genealogical Society will host a virtual Speaker Series presentation on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.  Our speaker is Lisa S. Gorrell.  The topic is: "How to leave your Genealogy"

What to do with your genealogy research? Some in paper form, some as digital files. What to do with all that research when you pass on. You might have a relative that will continue the research. Or you might be able to donate it to a library of a historical society. Ms. Gorrell will discuss why now is the time to make a plan to increase the chance that your work is saved for future generations.

Lisa has been researching family histories for over 30 years. She is a Certified Genealogist®, a graduate of the ProGen program, and an alumna of many genealogical institutes. Her areas of expertise include southern states and Texas; California, Montana, and Oregon; 18th & 19th-century German research; and 18th & 19th-century Swedish research. Lisa has served on boards of several genealogical societies and was the recording secretary with the Contra Costa County Historical Society, where she volunteers at their archives in Martinez. She is also a founding member and instructor of the online Applied Genealogy Institute (https://appliedgen.institute).

She writes about her family on two blogs: Mam-mas Southern Family” http://mam-massouthernfamily.blogspot.com/ and My Trails into the Past”   http://mytrailsintothepast.blogspot.com/.

Picking Topics for 2025
Wednesday, December 10
Picking Topics for 2025  (Discussion Group)
10:00 am
Zoom Meeting
Our December 10th 10:00 am meeting is the roundtable discussion group that we do annually to pick our topics for the following year.

Come and join members of the Solano County Genealogical Society to hear suggestions for topics and maybe suggest a topic yourself for our monthly discussion groups which will be held in 2026 at 10:00 a.m. on the second Wednesday of each month (except January, July, August).

We welcome all ideas for our topics. We are also looking for volunteers to lead some of the discussions.
Discussions are informal groups gathered to exchange or learn new ideas about each topic.

All Discussion Group Meetings are held online via Zoom. During 2026 we are planning to also simultaneously meet in person for Hybrid Discussion Group meetings at the Ulatis Vacaville Cultural Center Library.

Our members will receive a Zoom invite via email. They can also find the most current Zoom Invitation Link in the Members Only menu section.

Guests are welcome. Non-members should send an email Zoom invite request to  scgs@scgsca.org  no later than 4 pm the day prior to the event.
